08 September — 16 September 2012 Visit to Tuva Republic

As invited by Tuva State University, Tuva Ministry of Education and the Buddhist Union of Tuva, on 9th September the director will visit to the main temple of Tuva “Khuree Tekchenling”, meet with the Khenpo Lama of Tuva Ven. Tenzin Tsultrim and Sangha Community and have discussion with them and visit the National Museum and give a Public talk on “His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Perspective on Science and Spirituality”.

On 10th September he will give a lecture to the students of Tuva State University on “Wisdom and Compassion: Source of Meaningful Life” at the Tuva State Universitу, Convention Hall of the Main Building and meet with the Rector of Tuva State University.

After lunch he will meet with the students of School N1 and N2 in Kaa-Khem Village near Kyzyl on “Wisdom and Compassion: Source of Meaningful Life”. This program is organized by the Ministery of Education of Tuva and in the evening give a Public Teaching on the topic “Bodhichitta as a Basis for the Buddhist Practice” (Overview of Shantideva’s Bodhicharya-avatara) in preparation for His Holiness teachings for the Russian Buddhists in Dharamsala.


On 11 September, the director will meet with the students of School N9 in Kyzyl and give a talk on “Basics of the Buddhist Ethics”. The program is organized by the Ministry of Education of Tuva.

After lunch he will meet with the scholars of the Tuva State University, Tuva Institute of Humanitarian Studies and deliver a lecture on “Buddhism in the 21st century” at the Tuva State Universitу, Convention Hall of the Main Building. In the evening he will give a Public Teaching on the “The Gradual Path to Enlightenment” on the basis of Je Tsonkhapa’s “Foundation of all Good Qualities” in preparation for His Holiness teachings in South India.

On 12 and 13 September he will attend a Seminar for the teachers of a new discipline “Basics of religious cultures and secular ethics” on the topic: “Teaching religions at school in the modern society”. Organized by Ministry of Education of Tuva and Tuvan State Institute for Teachers’ Advance Training.

On September 14 he will attend a conference on “Education, Science and Religion in the Modern World: new approaches” with participation of scholars and teachers of Tuvan State University, Tuvan State Institute for Teachers’ Advance Training at Tuva State Universitу, Convention Hall of the Main Building.

On 15th September he will visit Chadan, the second largest city of Tuva and visit the historical ruins of Ustuu-Khuree Buddhist Monastry, visit the newly-rebuilt Ustuu-Khuree Buddhist Monastry and meet with the teachers, students and public of Chadan and participate a discussion on “Buddhism in the 21st century”. The visit will be concluded with a prayer at the historical Buddha image in Chaa-Khol region
