The library's photographic archive presents a vivid catalogue of more than 6,000 images from Tibet and of Tibetan life in exile. Initiated with the aim of conserving and disseminating the rich visual information on Tibet , the archive contains a wide range of photographs, negatives and slides. These include photographs taken by western travelers such as Tolstoy and Dolan in the 1940s. Several images from the archive are on display in the library.
